In the past year, artist Lana Del Rey has been mixed up in a lot of internet drama and controversy. Images swirled around the internet of the artist wearing a mesh mask to a meet and greet with fans at the height of the pandemic. As well as many accusing her of writing music that glorifies manipulative and abusive relationships. She’s been accused of being “anti-feminist”. Lana has taken to social media to defend herself several times in the past but in September the artist decided it was enough and deactivated all her social media accounts.

Today, Lana Del Rey is releasing her eighth album, Blue Banisters. Blue Banisters is her second full-length album of 2021 after Chemtrails Over the Country Club. Chemtrails Over the Country Club did not nearly perform as well or get as much attention as her sixth album Norman F***ing Rockwell. This eighth album of hers was originally supposed to release July 4th, 2021. This is the first album since deactivating her social media. As a result, I think this album is her most mature and personal thus far.

The album covers Del Rey’s favorite topics from her usual “bad girls”, California, and her complicated relationships with both lovers and family. The album, although very typical Lana Del Rey, is still an important and interesting addition to her collection. It is her most personal album and is sure to give us some new favorite tracks.
