Last week, I recommended attractions for your future trip to Universal Orlando. That list was more for teens and adults. It wouldn’t be fair if your little kiddies were left out.
Universal is mainly geared toward older teens and adults but there’s room for children. Both parks have fun things for kids to experience. Big or small, you’re never too old for anything at Universal.
Universal Studios
E.T. Adventure – This classic dark ride has been a staple for decades now. I was surprised it was still here. Watch Steven Spielberg’s movie before going for maximum effect. It’s important to educate our kids in these classic movies. Admittedly, it could use some updating. Find this near The Simpsons Springfield area.
Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem – Satisfy your child’s Minion itch with the popular simulator ride. You’ll slip, slide and free-fall through Gru’s laboratory as his newest experiment goes haywire. Arrive early as it can spawn huge lines later. The ride is near the entrance of Studios.
Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster – Introduce your kiddos to their first rollercoaster located near E.T. Adventure. It’s not too underwhelming for parents nor too traumatic for kids. Hang on tight to your kids!
Islands of Adventure
Seuss Landing – Inspired by the beloved children’s author, Seuss Landing makes up a big section of the park. Your kiddos can relive those bedtime stories in the flesh. It feels like you’re stepping into Dr. Seuss’ world, adorned with bright colors and signature design.
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish swims you around in the air with a catchy song. You’ll even get a tad splashed. Cat In The Hat whisks you on a dark ride retelling the book itself. I actually found it strangely surreal and psychedelic. There was a confused little girl in front of me who said, “I’m not sure if I should be happy or afraid.”
The High-In-The-Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride rolls you around Seuss Landing with great views of the whole park. I loved how it rides through a restaurant as you see other guests eating. The ride workers will say “choo-choo!” when you depart. Audio recordings introduce you to characters you’ll see like The Lorax and Sneetches.
Pteranodon Flyers – Head to Jurassic Park to soar across the park with your kids. Flyers is exclusively for kids as adults must be accompanied by a child. Just don’t look down!
Flight of the Hippogriff – Do your kids love Harry Potter? Good news! Trek over to Hogsmeade for the kiddie rollercoaster. Kids and adults will scream for joy in this flight. Hippogriff is a bit faster than Woody Woodpecker but balances thrill and family-friendliness.
