After six years of silence on the music front from Adele, we are finally getting her first single today titled, ‘Easy On Me’, off her newest album, 30. Adele’s fourth studio album is set to drop on November 19th, and excitement is an understatement. A Taylor Swift and Adele album back to back? November is going to be an exhilarating month in the music sphere.
Adele posted a 21-second teaser of the new single on Twitter on October 5th. The teaser trailer revealed that this single was going to be a quintessential Adele heartfelt piano ballad. The black and white video shows Adele popping in a tape, turning up the radio, and driving down an old road with papers flying out of the car.
Most of us know at this point that Adele titles her albums off of the age she is when writing the album hence the album titles 19, 21, 25, and now 30. Adele revealed on a live stream what most of us suspected, that this album is going to be about her divorce from Simon Konecki. Adele calls 30 the age where her entire life fell apart, where her separation paired with the pressures of motherhood and scrutiny of fame came to a head.
The couple was reportedly married in 2016, but in her Vogue interview, Adele reveals they were not actually married until 2018 and not long after filed for divorce in 2019. The couple dated for several years prior to the marriage and they had their son in 2012. Adele says her new album was recorded to help her nine-year-old son understand why she and his father got divorced.
Simon Konecki now lives across the road from his ex-wife and the pair shares custody of their son Angelo. Adele says that nothing bad happened between the couple and that she left the marriage in pursuit of her own happiness. I am sure the album will reveal more details on her decision once it is released.
